A UNIQUE PERSPECTIVE ON THE MC CLAIN BEATING

Jessica McBride at McBride’s Media Matters brings a unique perspective to the Samuel McClain assault story. Jessica covered crime for the Journal Sentinel and brings her perspective to this case. I am not going to bother to summarize what she writes; I won’t be able to do it justice. Just read it. It is well [...]

RAMMIN’ & JAMMIN’: A CHALLENGE WORTH TAKING

RamJac at Rammin’ & Jammin’ picks up a challenge for the blogosphere across The Pond to name the 10 Worst Americans of All Time. This list should be a hoot, and no, it doesn’t have to be strictly in politics (although there are a lot of quality candidates in the political arena. Here are my [...]

WHERE IS THE GANG SQUAD?

Patrick at BadgerBlogger weighs in on the status of the Milwaukee Police Department’s Gang Squad. You remember the Gang Squad, the one disbanded by former Chief of Police Art Jones. You remember him, too — Little Artie, the guy who said Milwaukee didn’t have a gang problem, that his area of concern was officers overstepping [...]

KANE: MISSES THE POINT AS WELL

Just got done reading Eugene Kane’s column. I had avoided it for the sake of mental health reasons until Fred at RealDebateWisconsin mentioned Kane’s column and analyzed it. After reading it myself, predictably it misses the mark completely.
Kane examines a Boys & Girls Club located near the site of the vicious assault on Samuel McClain. [...]

The Justice Department has opened an investigation into the leak of classified information about President Bush’s secret domestic spying program, Justice officials said Friday. The officials, who requested anonymity because of the sensitivity of the probe, said the inquiry will focus on disclosures [...]

According to the Journal Sentinel’s DayWatch blog:
Milwaukee police arrested two men, 19 and 22, overnight in connection with the beating of Samuel McClain and are looking for at least three more, said Capt. David Zibolski.

“That number may grow depending on what those three say when we get them in,” he said.

The two men arrested are [...]

SENTINEL JOURNAL: ATTACKERS MAY HAVE GANG TIES

NO KIDDING!!! Gee, when did that bolt of lightning strike out of the sky?
Nine suspects ranging from 14 to 22 are under arrest and guess what? Three of them — a 14-year-old and two 16-year-olds — have been remanded to Children’s Court. Someone needs to inform the idiots overseeing this that these are not children [...]

SENTINEL JOURNAL EDITORIAL MISSES THE MARK

The Sentinel Journal weighs in on the Samuel McClain beating today. No surprises here: it misses the mark in several ways.
The editorial is entitled “Zero tolerance for mobs.” Very good, but where was the newspaper’s editorial board when suspects in the previous high profile mob beatings were being let off lightly, being charged as juveniles [...]
