HOLLYWOOD’S LACK OF TASTE

With plenty of time to alter its Lost parody for the opening of the Emmy awards, NBC instead went ahead with the skit prominently featuring a plane crash only hours after a real-life plane crash killed 49 people in Kentucky.

Ian at HotAir has the video here. Features Conan O’Brien.

Since Kentucky is a red state and is part of fly-over country, the elitists in Hollywood either (a) are so tone-deaf they couldn’t care less about the people grieving the loss of loved ones or (b) think it’s justice for a state which so brazenly voted for George Bush twice.

But if the victims were Muslims, they’d have bent themselves into a pretzel to avoid being insensitive.

Says Ian:

NBC has armies of writers and producers on a show the scope of the Emmy Awards. They could have come up with something to replace the Lost sketch, and if it was really lame a simple explanation that they had replaced a plane crash sketch out of respect for those lost in the Comair crash would have been right and classy.

Amen.
