JIHADISTS ATTACK UK
But The Breck Girl says the War on Terror is just a bumper sticker slogan.
Tell it to the people in London and Glasgow, who were spared what could have been deadly Al Qaeda terrorist attacks in the past two days.
First, in London, two bombs loaded with a lethal mix of gasoline, propane and nails were defused in cars near Piccadilly Circus, narrowly avoiding what could have been a deadly attack.
LONDON (al-AP) - Police in London’s bustling nightclub and theater district on Friday defused a bomb that could have killed hundreds, after an ambulance crew spotted smoke coming from a Mercedes filled with a lethal mix of gasoline, propane and nails, authorities said.
The bomb near Piccadilly Circus was powerful enough to have caused “significant injury or loss of life” - possibly killing hundreds, British anti-terror police chief Peter Clarke said …
Officers were called to The Haymarket, just south of Piccadilly Circus, after an ambulance crew - responding to a call just before 1:30 a.m. about a person who had fallen at a nightclub - noticed smoke coming from a car parked in front of the building, Clarke said.
Early photographs of the metallic, pale green Mercedes show a canister bearing the words “patio gas,” indicating it was propane gas, next to the car. The back door was open with blankets spilling out. The car was removed from the scene after a bomb squad disabled the explosives.
The busy Haymarket thoroughfare is packed with restaurants, bars, a cinema complex and West End theaters, and was buzzing at that hour. “Phantom of the Opera” is playing at the Her Majesty’s Theater down the street.
The British believe “international elements (read: Al Qaeda jihadists)” are involved. That goes into the “No shit, Sherlock” category.
As inept as American society has been at assimilating immigrants and other foreigners under the doctrine of multiculturalism — which does nothing but teach people to hate America — the British have been even worse, especially when it comes to the practitioners of the Religion of Rampage — or the Religion of Piece (of Arm, of Leg, of Torso), if you will.
Michelle Malkin has more here, including confirmation that the second vehicle located also with gasoline, propane and nails was indeed connected to the first one.
And for the sufferers of Bush Derangement Syndrome — those who believe that terrorism wasn’t a threat prior to Jan. 20, 2001 — that George W. Bush somehow created every jihadist operating in the world, and that when he leaves office in 18 months, the threat will disappear comes this dose of cold, hard reality.
One of the great delusions of our time is that once Blair, in the UK case, and Bush, in the American one, stepped down from office the terrorist threat would disappear. The news that a car bomb attack was foiled in London last night illustrates just how wrong this belief was. Although, the fact that the vast bulk of planning for the 9/11 attacks was done during the Clinton presidency should have shown people how wrong-headed this idea was in the first place.
And today, jihadists attempted a homicide bombing at the Glasgow Airport by crashing an SUV into glass doors in the proximity of travelers.
GLASGOW, Scotland (al-AP) - A Jeep Cherokee trailing a cascade of flames rammed into Glasgow airport on Saturday, shattering glass doors just yards from passengers at the check-in counters. Police said they believed the attack was linked to two car bombs found in London the day before …
One of the men in the car was in critical condition at a hospital with severe burns, while the other was in police custody, said Scottish Police Chief Constable Willie Rae. He said a “suspect device” was found on the man at the hospital and it was taken to a safe location where it was being investigated.
Rae would not say whether the device was a suicide belt. British security officials said evidence pointed toward the Glasgow attack being a suicide mission.
“I can confirm that we believe the incident at Glasgow airport is linked to the events in London yesterday,” Rae said. “There are clearly similarities and we can confirm that this is being treated as a terrorist incident.”
Police foiled the plot Friday after two cars were found in central London packed with explosives - one outside a nightclub near Piccadilly Circus and another parked nearby.
A British government security official said the methods used in the airport attack and Friday’s thwarted plots were similar, with all three vehicles carrying large quantities of flammable liquid.
Meanwhile, Americans yawn and turn to the latest Paris Hilton update.
Let me repeat this for emphasis: British authorities have connected the Glasgow attack to the foiled car bombs in London.
This is an act of war. One that wasn’t successful, but an act of war nonetheless.
We are fighting an enemy that attacks at a sign of weakness. Every time and every place we show weakness, they will attack.
Michelle Malkin has more on the Glasgow attack here, as well as more coverage from Hot Air here.
Security has been increased at U.S. airports as a result (H/T to Sean Hackbarth at The American Mind).
U.S. airport authorities and Department of Homeland Security officials told ABC News that heavy weapons teams, parking restrictions, increased vehicle checkpoints and other measures to step up security were being put into place at large- and medium-sized U.S. commercial airports.

When the terrorist attack comes after the Bush administration the answer will be, “It happened because Bush did not do enough to proect us, and his policies provoked the extremists.” Mark my words.

My money… Shrillary. It would move a ton of 9/11 baggage from her husband to Bush.

Yes, they will blame Bush either way … although they were wrong in stating terrorists attacks would stop as soon as Bush and Blair were out of office. Hmmm … let’s see … Blair was out of office, what, 2 days? and there was an attempted attack. Oops.
As to your pool, Billary is a good choice, but then again so is the Breck “The term ‘war on terror’ is a bumper sticker slogan” Girl. :-/
